Helping Zambian Orphans Without Hurting Them
The Oxford-trained and Zambian-born African economist, Dambisa Moyo convincingly argues in her book, DEAD AID: WHY AID IS NOT WORKING AND HOW THERE IS A BETTER WAY FOR AFRICA, the trillion dollars of U.S. aid which has poured into Africa the last few decades has not only failed to help, but it has actually made things worse. Why? Much of it that has gone to governments not only served to keep despots in power, it has not helped the poor. Other money given to NGO’s, has not served to increase the per-capita income, which is a key indicator of whether or not the poor are truly helped. Instead, it has de-incentivized people from working and producing and has encouraged unhealthy dependence.
How is the Zambian Mission Project different? We are not only working with local Zambian leaders who want to be self-sustaining, we are supporting them in a manner by which ultimately the boys and girls who come to the orphanage can learn vocational skills that will enable them both to support self and family beyond mere subsistence, and perhaps even enable them to give back to the orphanage.
In other words, If you give to the Zambian Mission Project you are supporting an orphanage that both teaches children about Jesus Christ and prepares them for a life that can flourish now.
Join with us and make a difference in the lives of Zambian children in this world and in the world to come!
